The conventional condensation and refluxing process was employed to synthesize Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes of Methylcarbamatethiosemicarbazone ligand. Reactions were carried out at the pH of 7. The molar ratio of the ligand and metal salt was 2:1. The structures of the synthesized metal complexes were suggested by different analytical techniques such as magnetic susceptibility, molar conductance, IR, EPR and UV spectroscopy. Experimental studies confirmed the octahedral geometry for all the complexes. The geometry of the ligand and complexes were also confirmed by theoretical studies. The complexes were investigated for biological action against pathogenic fungi (C. krusei, C. albican) and bacteria (S. aureus, E. coli). The antimicrobial results confirmed superior inhibition potential of the metal complexes as compared with the parent ligand. The enhanced antimicrobial activities might be due to the chelation. Molecular-docking assays confirmed the strong interaction of ligand with target antimicrobial protein DNA gyrase-B.  相似文献

Four mononuclear copper(II) and zinc(II) complexes were synthesized by the reaction of copper and zinc salts with 3,4-dichlorophenylactic acid, 2-bromophenylactic acid, biphenylacetic acid (O-donor ligand) and bipyridine (N-donor ligands) having the general formulae [(L)2Cu(bp)(H2O)] ( 1 ), [(BpA)2Cu(bp)] ( 2 ), [(L)2Zn(bp)(H2O)] ( 3 ) and [(L*)2Zn(bp)] ( 4 ) (L = 3,4-dichlorophenylacetate, L* = 2-bromophenylacetate bp = bipyridine, and BpA = biphenylacetate). Structures of all compounds were characterized through FT-IR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis. FT-IR spectra of all complexes confirmed the binding mode of Cu-O and Zn-O. XRD data revealed that complexes 1 – 3 exhibited distorted octahedral arrangement, whereas complex 4 has a distorted tetrahedral environment. Micellization behavior was examined with anionic surfactant (SDS) by conductance measurement as well as absorption spectral analysis. DNA binding study was assessed through viscosity measurement and UV/Vis spectrophotometry. DPPH free radical scavenging assay was measured by UV/Vis spectrophotometry. The results showed nice biological potential of all the complexes.  相似文献

To achieve unique molecular-recognition patterns, a rational control of the flexibility of porous coordination polymers (PCPs) is highly sought, but it remains elusive. From a thermodynamic perspective, the competitive relationship between the structural deformation energy (Edef) of soft PCPs and the guest interaction is key for selective a guest-triggered structural-transformation behavior. Therefore, it is vital to investigate and control Edef to regulate this competition for flexibility control. Driven by these theoretical insights, we demonstrate an Edef-modulation strategy via encoding inter-framework hydrogen bonds into a soft PCP with an interpenetrated structure. As a proof of this concept, the enhanced Edef of PCP enables a selective gate-opening behavior toward CHCl3 over CH2Cl2 by changing the adsorption-energy landscape of the compounds. This study provides a new direction for the design of functional soft porous materials.  相似文献

Lanthanide dinitrogen complexes, Ln(N2) x (x = 1-8), were investigated by Density Functional Theory computations using the B3LYP exchange-correlation functional in conjunction with quasirelativistic pseudopotentials for Ln. After a recent study on the lanthanum complexes (A. Kovács, Structural Chemistry 2018 , 29, 1825), the present study aimed to probe the changes upon variously filled 4f subshells of Ln on the structures, stabilities, and bonding properties in related complexes of Nd, Ho, and Lu. The bonding properties were assessed on the basis of natural atomic charges, Ln valence orbital populations, and analysis of bonding molecular orbitals.  相似文献

We studied the ring opening of propylene oxide (PO) by salen-M coordinated OH group [M = Al(III), Sc(III), Cr(III), Mn(III), Fe(III), Co(II), Co(III), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Ru(III) and Rh(III)]. The results show that the ring-opening energy barriers for M(II) complexes are much lower than those with M(III) complexes in the gas phase, and the barriers correlate linearly with the negative charges on the OH group and the Fukui function condensed on the OH group. The nucleophilicity ordering in the gas phase can be rationalized by the ratio of formal positive charges/radius of M cations. Solvent effect greatly increases the barriers of M(II) complexes but slightly changes the results of M(III) ones, making the barriers similar. Analysis indicates that the reaction heats are linearly proportional to the reverse reaction barriers. The relationships established here can be used to estimate the ring-opening barriers and to screen epoxide ring-opening catalysts.  相似文献

Lanthanide complexes are of increasing importance in cancer diagnosis and therapy. In the present study 1:1 and 1:3 solid complexes of La (III)–5-FU (5-fluorouracil) were prepared and characterized. In solution, the formation of 1:1 La (III) and Eu (III) complexes enabled the enhancement of 5-FU's effectiveness. Binding constants of the 1:1 complexes of both metals were estimated using spectrophotometry and HPLC with fluorescence detection methods. The thermodynamic parameters ΔG ° , ΔH ° and ΔS ° were calculated using differential scanning calorimetry. Evaluation of the cytotoxic activity of the 1:1 La (III)- and Eu (III)–5-FU complexes was performed through two methodologies, trypan blue for cell viability where La (III)- and Eu (III)–5-FU complexes were found to have 52,000 and 80,000 dead cells, respectively, and via flow cytometric analysis to measure the apoptotic values, which were found to be 59.87 and 86.86% respectively.  相似文献

This study reports the synthesis of sulfonamide-derived Schiff bases as ligands L 1 and L 2 as well as their transition metal complexes [VO(IV), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II)]. The Schiff bases (4-{E-[(2-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)methylidene]amino}benzene-1-sulfonamide ( L 1 ) and 4-{[(2-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)methylidene]amino}-N-(5-methyl-1,2-oxazol-3-yl)benzene-1-sulfonamide ( L 2 ) were synthesized by the condensation reaction of 4-aminobenzene-1-sulfonamide and 4-amino-N-(3-methyl-2,3-dihydro-1,2-oxazol-5-yl)benzene-1-sulfonamide with 2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde in an equimolar ratio. Sulfonamide core ligands behaved as bidentate ligands and coordinated with transition metals via nitrogen of azomethine and the oxygen of the hydroxyl group. Ligand L 1 was recovered in its crystalline form and was analyzed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction technique which held monoclinic crystal system with space group (P21/c). The structures of the ligands L 1 and L 2 and their transition metal complexes were established by their physical (melting point, color, yields, solubility, magnetic susceptibility, and conductance measurements), spectral (UV–visible [UV–Vis], Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and mass analysis), and analytical (CHN analysis) techniques. Furthermore, computational analysis (vibrational bands, frontier molecular orbitals (FMOs), and natural bonding orbitals [NBOs]) were performed for ligands through density functional theory utilizing B3LYP/6-311+G(d,p) level and UV–Vis analysis was carried out by time-dependent density functional theory. Theoretical spectroscopic data were in line with the experimental spectroscopic data. NBO analysis confirmed the extraordinary stability of the ligands in their conjugative interactions. Global reactivity parameters computed from the FMO energies indicated the ligands were bioactive by nature. These procedures ensured the charge transfer phenomenon for the ligands and reasonable relevance was established with experimental results. The synthesized compounds were screened for antimicrobial activities against bacterial (Streptococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Eshcheria coli, and Klebsiella pneomoniae) species and fungal (Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus flavous) strains. A further assay was designed for screening of their antioxidant activities (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazine radical scavenging activity, total phenolic contents, and total iron reducing power) and enzyme inhibition properties (amylase, protease, acetylcholinesterase, and butyrylcholinesterase). The substantial results of these activities proved the ligands and their transition metal complexes to be bioactive in their nature.  相似文献

A series of novel diaroylhydrazone aluminum complexes have been synthesized and well-defined structurally, and their catalytic performance in the polymerization of ε-caprolactone and lactides have also been evaluated. Complexes [(L1–4)2AlMe] ( 1 – 4 ) {[L1 = (3,5-tBu2–2-OMe-C6H2)CH=NNCOC6H5], [L2 = (3,5-tBu2–2-OMe-C6H2)CH=NNCO(C6H4–4-OCH3)], [L3 = (3,5-tBu2–2-OMe-C6H2)CH=NNCO(C6H4–4-Br)] and [L4 = (2-OMe-C6H4)CH=NNCO(C6H4–4-tBu)]} were prepared through treatment of AlMe3 with the corresponding proligands L1–4H in molar ratios of 1: 1 or 1: 2. Chemical structures of all the complexes were well-defined by elemental analysis, NMR spectra as well as single-crystal X-ray study. Complexes [(L1–4)2AlMe] ( 1 – 4 ) in this work represent the first examples of aluminum complexes of aroylhydrazone ligands with crystallographic characterization. Specifically, they are all in monomeric form with a penta-coordinated aluminum center, including two approximately co-planar five-membered metallacycles with aluminum. Introduced bulky tert-butyl substituents in aroylhydrazone ligands could affect the geometry around the central metal which is a distorted square-based pyramid in complexes 1 – 3 while being a trigonal bipyramidal in complex 4 , thus affecting their catalytic behaviors. The complexes can successfully catalyze the ring-opening polymerization of ε-caprolactone and L-lactide under mild conditions without any activator. In addition, complexes 1 – 4 could also polymerize rac-lactide, affording atactic polylactides with high conversions and good controllability in relatively short reaction time.  相似文献

Three novel complexes, namely [Nd·L1·HCOO·(H2O)4] ( 1 ), [Pr·L1·HCOO·(H2O)4] ( 2 ) and [In·L2·Cl·(H2O)2] ( 3 ) (L1 = 1,1-bis(5-(pyrazin-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)methane, L2 = 1,1-bis(5-(pyrazin-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)ketone), were synthesized and characterized. The molecular structures of 1 – 3 were confirmed using single-crystal X-ray diffraction. All three obtained complexes are zero-dimensional and connected to each other by hydrogen bonds. In 1 and 2 the metal is surrounded by nine donors and 3 has seven coordination sites. The interaction of 1 – 3 with calf thymus DNA (CT-DNA) was explored using UV absorption spectra and fluorescence spectra. The intrinsic binding constants of 1 – 3 with CT-DNA are about 1.9 × 104, 1.4 × 104 and 1.1 × 104, respectively. Stern–Volmer quenching plots of 1 – 3 have slopes of 0.1508, 0.134 and 0.1205, respectively. The ability of these complexes to cleave pBR322 plasmid DNA was demonstrated using gel electrophoresis assay. Apoptosis studies of the three novel complexes showed a significant inhibitory effect on HeLa cells. Furthermore, MTT assays were used to evaluate the anticancer activity of the three complexes. The cytotoxicity study indicated that complex 1 possesses a higher inhibitory rate of HeLa cells than the other complexes. Especially, the efficacy of 1 was shown to be the highest for cisplatin at 24 h. A further molecular docking technique was introduced to understand the binding of the complexes toward the target DNA.  相似文献

Seven novel complexes (C1–C7) were synthesized by the interaction between Cu(I) metal cation, L1, L2, L3, X and PPh3, where L1–L3 are derivatives of ((pyridine-2-ylmethylene)amino)phenol imine ligands and X = Cl, Br, I, NCS. All the complexes were characterized using infrared, 1H NMR and 31P NMR spectroscopies. The crystal structures of C1–C7 were also determined using single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The organization of the crystal structures and the intermolecular interactions are discussed. The supramolecular assemblies are driven by cooperative π…π interactions and hydrogen bonds, followed by CH…π linkages. The potential anticancer effect of C1–C7 was assessed for human glioblastoma cells using several anticancer experiments, which showed that these complexes have marked anticancer property against U87 cells. It was also found that the minimum and maximum anticancer effects are shown by C3- and C4-treated samples, respectively. Furthermore, theoretical approaches were used to investigate the nature of metal–ligand interactions which suggest a closed-shell and electrostatic character for Cu…N, Cu…P and Cu…X bonds.  相似文献
